In her 25th year at Barrington High School, Heidi Rockwell teaches English and Social Studies and aims to help students investigate their world while deepening their curiosity and engagement. To model what dynamic learning looks like, Heidi seeks PD opportunities well outside of her comfort zone. She was awarded two Fulbright Teacher Exchange grants, one to the Czech Republic in 2007-2008 which included her family, and then again in 2021-2022 as a Teacher for Global Classroom Fellow. She serves as an MTSS Instructional Coach, is a member of the leadership team for her building’s Equity and Diversity Learning Cohort, serves as Barrington’s mentor for teachers pursuing their National Board Certification, and supports new service teachers as an Illinois Virtual Instructional Coach. She holds a B.A. in English and History from Loyola University Chicago and a Master of Liberal Arts from The University of Chicago. In her free time, she plays handbells in Jubilate Bell Choir, mentors a Congolese Refugee family, serves as a Stephen Minister, and is host mom to Kento, an AFS exchange student from Japan.
